We are always told: “the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward” and although we hear it a lot, this couldn’t be more true. Sarah Tsitso from the Food Bank of Western Mass is the celebrity in our Tip Tuesday series this week and someone who has shown us all that in order to grow, you need to go beyond your comfort zone.

Sarah has a long history of leading organizations through change and has really helped them grow through her leadership. Whether it is leading that large company you are running or building your small business, you need a network of people you can depend on who will speak well of you and help you to build your credibility. We don’t wake up one day and “become well-connected” in our community, it takes work.

What does this work look like? Traditionally, people start with attending networking events. This is the best place to begin, when you are not sure where to go. The more often you go, the more familiar you will become with the group and the more comfortable you will get with this part of the work.

Your network grows when you expand out of this comfort zone, however, and eventually you will need to take this step. Remember, the bigger the risks, the bigger the rewards. When you are deciding where to network next, mix it up. Try events that you have never been to before.
