At Names & Faces we believe design influences everything. Paul, our founder and CEO, is a designer who previously led design at Yuppiechef.com. Richard, our co-founder and CCO, was MD of AMVBBDO —the UK’s largest advertising agency — where he led teams that worked on some of the world’s most iconic advertising campaigns.

We’re a design-led company that believes every problem starts with and ends with design. This means our design team engages with all aspects of our business and plays a leading role in bringing our team’s ideas to life.

If you’re the right candidate for this role, you’ll have a passion for user interface design but you’ll have broad design capability. You’ll be expected to work on projects ranging from new mobile experiences, to entirely new interfaces for our back-office software, to the preparation of beautiful slide decks for our founders, to evolving our website, to creating compelling documentation for our sales team in various formats, and tie-ing this all together in a unique Names & Faces design language that you’ll be responsible for helping us build.

We’d expect you to be constantly curious when it comes to exploring new design tools and passionate about building design systems.

We’re looking to hire someone exceptional.

A bit about you

  1. You’re kind.
  2. You believe that you are a manager of one.
  3. You have a minimum of 5 years experience shipping mobile software, ideally in the SaaS/B2B space.
  4. You’re open, candid and have a willingness to disagree with members of the product team when it comes to yours and their ideas.
  5. You have a high-level understanding of established design patterns within the Android and iOS ecosystems.
  6. You believe that the small things do matter.
  7. You have experience with or a strong interest in design systems.
  8. You’re a wizard with your go-to design tools. We live and breathe in Sketch, we use Marvel for prototyping, Adobe Suite for the occasional job and Atlassian’s tools for the day-to-day.
  9. You can easily articulate what makes great products great.
  10. You’re comfortable working remotely.

A bit about what we can offer

  1. Our design team works intimately with our engineering team, quickly bringing ideas to life. Your design will be put into the hands of tens of thousands of users on a daily basis.
  2. You’ll play a leading role in shaping and growing the design culture at Names & Faces.
  3. You’ll own your design ideas, from pencil to high fidelity and into production.
  4. With our San Francisco office and our Y Combinator network, we have one foot firmly grounded in Silicon Valley, giving you access to world class people, insights and opportunities.
  5. A competitive, market-related salary set in USD.

About Names & Faces

We make visual employee directories. We solve a problem experienced by everyone from the CEO to the intern — how do I get to know the people around me, get context for where they fit in & get in touch when I need to?

We want to build a world where people matter, where real world relationships are the foundation of our progress and where, instead of having technology use us, we use technology when we need it.

The first product we’ve built is the world’s best people directory. Sound simple? Perhaps. But we think it’s pretty magical. And here’s why.

We know it’s the real world relationships between people that make great organisations great. When we get to know the people around us we create an environment where exceptional things can happen.

But in most organisations, clunky intranets and complicated HR systems have failed dismally at helping us keep up with who is who and discover who to reach out to when we need help. Not being able to do these simple things quickly and easily erodes culture, limits collaboration and makes it difficult to develop a helpful, welcoming and productive workplace where people feel recognized and valued.

We’ve designed Names & Faces to be the best people directory in the world. What we’ve built is not a new social network. The world knows we don’t need another one of those. And it’s not a new communication tool. It is the simplest, fastest and most intuitive way to get to know your people, get context for where they fit in and get in touch when you need to.
