Existence and a Drop in the Ocean
For a drop to exist it has to leave the ocean. But ultimately wherever the drop lands, it returns to the ocean.
Maybe it falls to the sand, where it merges, and makes it’s way slowly back to the sea.
Or it may separate to even smaller elements, to salt and minerals, and water, then eventually it finds its way back to the ocean, maybe as the river.
Some drops may evaporate. They become water vapor or even elements of hydrogen and oxygen, wander around in the atmosphere until finally, falling back to Earth or to the ocean as rain…
There, it starts again.
The drop goes around and around, but existence is never lost.
As long as the drop sees itself as a drop, it may lose sight that it too is the ocean. It may say “Once I was the ocean, then I became a drop, then I became the soil and then, and, and … But I am still looking for the ocean.”
Or it may see itself as the ocean, but still feel lost as a drop.
Ot it may forget it all, and make a hell of a big splash…
Splash, splash, splash, then SPLASH!!!
Eventually the drop longs to know existence. Drop? Ocean? Then, no splash, not even THE SPLASH, brings fulfillment.
It longs only to know existence. Nothing else can distract…steadiness, patience, time and TIME bring stillness and silence, again and again…
And only eventually, existence dawns …..and with that, the end of restlessness, the end of searching
At HOME, content, at peace…even within conflict, within motion;
Fullness is right now, again and again, and THERE, drop or ocean…
EXISTENCE IS…
and THAT continues on and on and on….
