Weekly Update 11/1/19

This week we introduced the new Nano Forum, added a new team member to the Nano Foundation ranks, and celebrated more amazing development and content creation from the Nano community. We also say farewell to the Nanode block explorer and give a shoutout to a wonderful new initiative that is intent on planting 20 million trees.
New Nano Forum Now Open
Developed to complement our upcoming website refresh, this Tuesday marked the launch of our new Nano forum. The forum offers the Nano community a platform to collaborate, share, and contribute to a valuable community resource.
Designed to help spotlight the very best support answers and discussions, the forum will help new users find quick answers to their questions. Navigating Reddit, Discord, or Telegram to receive necessary support can be very frustrating — and the forum provides a level of convenience desired by many users.
Siliqua — A Modular Nano Wallet
This week Nano community member Matoking announced the completion of the first release of a modular wallet for Nano. Siliqua splits the wallet into three, providing the ability to utilize different PoW sources, UI, and network parameters as needed.
Currently, the wallet is used through command line only. Still, plans are in place for a graphical user interface for the project as it progresses.
This tool adds to the functionality and usability of Nano. It can be used as a great teaching tool for anyone tinkering with the protocol or development. If you are ready to explore, you can dive right into the Github here.
Nano Foundation Adds to its Ranks

This week we’re excited to welcome Graham Cull into the Nano Foundation. Graham has contributed a great deal to the Nano ecosystem, and his knowledge, manner, and experience, in addition to his background in software sales and business development, make him the perfect addition to our communications team.
Graham will be responsible for assisting with a wide range of tasks, including developing our social media strategy, external communication, community management. Help us in welcoming Graham into the Nano Foundation!

Nano in 60 Seconds Video
Nano community member u/Qwahzi regularly delivers great Nano content and recently published another insightful video. A concise look at Nano, its features, and how it works, all in roughly a minute — Quite a feat! This video can be used as a quick primer for new users and helps to explain basic concepts within Nano easily.
NanoCenter Monthly Update

‘ArranHarty,’ a NanoCenter ambassador, has provided this month’s update from the Nano community collective. Keep up to date on all the currently running projects, proposals receiving funding, and additions to the team by checking out the update on Reddit.
Team Trees and Nano

This week also saw an unexpected but welcome green movement known as #TeamTrees. This week popular YouTuber Mr. Beast announced a new initiative to plant 20 Million trees through a crowdfunded effort.
‘Nanillionare’ a Nano community Twitter account donated 1000, then 5000 trees to this initiative within the first day as a way to not only spread the word about Nano’s green capabilities but to also support this inspiring initiative.
Selfless acts like these truly make this community special. You can learn more about the project or donate through the TeamTrees.org website.
Nanode has Retired
As one of the first comprehensively developed block explorers, Nanode was instrumental in the early growth of the Nano ecosystem. As the go-to block explorer for users, exchanges, and services for much of 2018 — its role was undoubtedly crucial. A year or so since any significant updates, the owner, ‘rawrman,’ has decided to take it offline.
Nanode now forwards to NanoCrawler.cc, the most feature-rich, well translated, and maintained explorer in the ecosystem. Users should not have any problem in continuing to track their blocks, hashes, and transactions.
Following the closure, the Nanode Principal Representative is also offline and has stopped voting. Any users who have chosen to delegate their voting weight to the Nanode representative should redelegate to another voting representative to continue supporting the network.
Nano users are encouraged to regularly check their representatives on sites like My Nano Ninja to keep up with the status of their representative and change to a more powerful or reliable representative if needed.
