This week we highlight some encouraging grassroots adoption work from the GhanaianNano community, tell you all you need to know about our recent Beta network refresh and show off the latest developments in Nano network monitoring.
Real-world testing begins in Ghana
A new project allowing Ghanaian users to pay for cellular airtime with Nano via Telegram was presented on Reddit this week.
The local Ghanan team has posted their first videos, showing off the early prototype in a live environment! Check them out:
Recent developments within the Ghanaian banking sector have seen at least 70,000 people lose around $1.6 billion in savings. There is hope amongst cryptocurrency enthusiasts that the technology will provide an alternative option for people to manage their wealth, both now and in the future.
As the expanding community around Nano explores innovative methods of translating fast and fee-less transactions into real-world utility, it’s promising to see these types of developments happening around the world.
Bringing together data from the node monitors across the Nano network, NanoTicker.info offers unprecedented real-time statistics on the performance and load of the network in a well-presented dashboard.
NanoTicker features include:
- Real-time charts
- Checked blocks, confirmed blocks, unchecked blocks, blocks/second, confirmations/second, confirmation time, connected peers, sync status, memory usage and supported monitors
- Both maximum and minimum values recorded but also Median values from ALL monitors which will give a good indication of overall health
- Detailed chart description when hovering over titles
- Special local node chart with peer stake required, stake visible and with the latest version stats
- A detailed real-time table with all monitors. Searchable, sortable for any value and comparison against min/max by selecting rows. Automatically updated every 15sec.
If you run a Nano node and want to start contributing data to NanoTicker, then check out the original thread on our subreddit.
Beta Network gets a fresh start
Following productive and successful community testing of our previous 2 milestone releases, Dolphin and Solidus, we have decided to refresh the beta network. This will allow even more rigorous testing of upcoming protocol development.
The refresh includes a redistribution of the voting weight, allowing broader community participation and responsibility. This will result in the majority of the voting weight being permanently online and will allow anyone to perform tests as necessary when they need. PoW requirements have also been lowered, providing much more efficient avenue for generating blocks on the network.
This is also the perfect time for you to get involved with Beta testing! You can find all of the basic requirements for being a valuable beta tester in the update released last weekend:
Development Update: Beta Network Refresh
The Nano beta network has been crucial in assisting the development of the Nano node and protocol since it was set up…
Thank you to all of the amazing and talented beta testers working hard to ensure Nano continues to stand out from the crowd and remain on the cutting edge of cryptocurrency development!
Keep an eye on our blog over the coming weeks for all the improvements that are coming with V20 — Lydia.
