Psychopath. Madman. Maniac.

He liked “maniac”. It had that tasty, wild edge without the clinical judgements; without the old-world pigeonholing.

With the tyre iron in his belt, a gutful of shine eating his stomach lining and a blue dissolving beneath his tongue, the world felt beautiful.

The meatbin overflowed with the product of his tyre iron.

Down by the water the hair crawled over the cement in search of fat and flesh, and the ferals looked to the horizon and toothlessly mourned for the loss of the Old World, clinging to the values of ‘eating’ and ‘family’.

Masochistic to the point of being suicidal, impulsive and malicious — the Maniac was a self-created New World legend.

And then the news arrives— a new Jesus had come to town — followed by a posse of sycophants spewing “Morality” and “Justice” like sugar-sweet bile.

And with that — his joyful, bloody world falls apart.

The ferals become numb to the tyre iron, his fame becomes a thing of scorn and the Posse invades his sanctuary at “Dad’s Bar”.

And finally — while the putting the tyre iron to a thief, he is beaten by the Posse in the name of “Jesus” and “law” and “due process”.

Sprawled on the floors — lips split over his teeth; the Maniac sets a plan in motion:

Kill Jesus.

Shunned by Dad and turned away by the slave-trading Boss-Lady, the Maniac turns to the Doctor — surgeon-cum-butcher-cum-amphetamine enthusiast; but the Old World allure of Jesus is too strong.

Alone and betrayed — the Maniac rents “The Kid” — an indifferent feral slave, and gleefully begins his campaign of terror.

As the meatbin overflows; the Maniac’s facade crumbles. Just like Jesus play-acting at Law-bringer or the Ferals clamoring for blue meat — the Maniac realizes that he is merely another dead-eyed slave to Old World ideals.

After recklessly attacking Jesus during a riot — the Maniac is imprisoned by the Posse. Though he escapes; his old friends turn him away. He confronts Jesus in desperation — but is beaten, drugged and exiled.

He awakens in the wilderness and is rescued by The Kid. As strange plants compete violently for tar, the Maniac witnesses the true face of the New World; and for the first time since being dragged from his home in the Old City — he feels fear.

Stretched out on the slab in a makeshift shack — his wounds are packed with New World parasites, and as they race through his body he is jolted into painful consciousness.

Furious and craving blues — he is forced to accept his new role as “Feral Science Project” — and is led back to the City under the observation of The Kid.

The Maniac returns to find his old friends working with Jesus.

As his muscles flood with New World strength — he joylessly beats Jesus to death.

Turning to his once-friends, he takes up his old tyre iron and proclaims:

“Welcome to the real New World.”
