Dragon Tales NaNoWriMo LOG:
Week 1 check in.
Word count so far: 9344
Word count required to get back on target: A total of 12500 by the end of today (it probably won’t happen but I will do my best to come close).
Logged hours of writing: 13 hours and 30mins plus overtime.
NANO theme song: Currently a toss up between Mic Drop by BTS and Fanfare by SF9. Who those of you that don’t know me, I like to have a theme song every NANO to play at the start of every writing session so that my brain becomes conditioned to write. Currently these two songs are working well.
Beverage of choice: Iced salted caramel coffee, Rooibos tea with vanilla.
Current soy melt in burner: Angel Wings (smells like baby powder).
You know that you are a serial procrastinator when:
- You commit to joining your best mate’s Overwatch team when you know you have better things to do this month.
- You are suddenly enthusiastic about cleaning.
-Noel Fielding coming up in your YouTube feed leads to an addiction to watching The Great British Bake Off. I am caring way too much about biscuits that have the perfect crunch instead of my plot (this is procrastinator me at its best).
You know you are a pantser when:
-Your main character runs out of the scene, leaving you to pick up the pieces.
- Your main character takes a vow of silence, threatening not to say another word for the entire novel (seriously Katie, you can stop stressing me out already).
- One of my dragons unexpectedly teases my main character’s father for having long fingernails. She’s allowed to have long fingernails (claws), however, because she is a dragon and a lady.
-Two of my dragons which only came into existence yesterday (Glimmer and Shimmy) almost moved me to tears.
Story progression so far:
Dragonsong: After a terrible first day at singing lessons, Katie vows never to speak or sing again. Her family try to bring her out of her shell, but unexpectedly it is silent Xion who teaches her how beautiful her dragonsong truly is. Approximately 3/4 complete.
Immediate goals:
Finish Dragonsong. Start Dragonfall (Scarlet’s story) and Summer’s Song (Summer and Jamie).
Thank you so much for reading. Best wishes to everybody working on NaNoWriMo. If you enjoyed this story please show your appreciation with a round of applause.
