It’s that time of the year again: National Novel Writing Month, or, in local parlance, NaNoWriMo. Brave souls across the country and around the world have made a pledge to write 50,000 words—a complete first draft of a novel—between now and November 30.

This collection is dedicated to all things NaNoWriMo: the soaring highs, the heartbreaking lows, and the head-down writing in between.

If you’re a participating writer, you can document your progress (or lack thereof). If you’re a past participant or seasoned writer, you can offer support. If you’re just an observer but have something to say about writing, you can do so here, too. Email nanowrimo@medium.com to submit your posts to the collection.

As the month progresses, you’ll find regular writing prompts from the Medium staff to get your creative juices flowing. And hopefully you’ll have some fun along the way.

The party isn’t over when the month ends: Come December, we’ll invite ’WriMos to write 500-word synopses of their novels and share their drafts with collaborators to get feedback. The three synopses most recommended by Medium readers will go before a panel of industry judges.

But first comes the hard part: getting started. Check out some of the other posts in the collection to get inspired.

If you have any questions, email nanowrimo@medium.com. Good luck!
