This was my very first NaNoWriMo, so my opinion of things is at least a little bit skewed towards…

Since I took to posting on Medium everyday during the month (I still need to offer up a final recap), it helped me stay accountable to the…the beginner side of the world. That being said, I enjoyed reading all of the thoughts, perspectives and prompts throughout the month, as it helped keep me pumped and excited about writing everyday! ¶ Since I took to posting on Medium everyday during the month (I still need to offer up a final recap), it helped me stay accountable to the rest of the NaNoWriMo folks on here, and it helped spur me on when I got a recommend or comment on my thoughts.

I think the big difference this year versus my first NaNoWriMo is that I felt more connected with…

In terms of improvement. Personally, I would like to try again next year to post my work in segments as I go. Perhaps not daily, but…the NaNoWriMo community thanks to the Medium publication. I originally planned on posting chapters here simply so I could send the links to friends and family. How lucky I was Julie Russell had stumbled on my posts and asked me to contribute! Receiving feedback from her and other NaNoWriMo members meant a lot to me, and went a long way toward keeping me excited and motivated to succeed. I am very grateful she reached out, and am also grateful for everyone who responded or recommended my…

What I Learned About Myself After Writing Everyday for 30 Days

Thoughts On My NaNoWriMo JourneyI learned that… ¶ I can do it. ¶ I can sit down for an hour or so, each day, and let words flow out of my mind and onto the screen. ¶ The hardest part is starting. ¶ The second hardest part is finishing (I still have to finish my 60k+ word novel). ¶ Writing is as much a soul care practice for me as it is a creative expression. ¶ I need to write. ¶ I have a voice, and I need to let it be heard. ¶ It was totally worth it.
