The Passing is the Only Thing That Will Stay

Nessie Quiambao, Philippines

She’s just a girl who writes to figure out the role she must play in this world.

Time

will always leave its mark;

people have a way of leaving footprints behind

that will endure

though their body have decayed,

the passing is the only thing that stays.

And the wind blows

to erode the mountains,

the waves lap against the shores,

the rain will drizzle

until the memories fade away

the passing is the only thing that will stay.

People talk of permanence

as if they have lived long enough

to watch it overstay

but the passing is only thing that stays.
