Kesha “Praying” fans will find meaning through her “personal” album following allegation claims

Speaking on Good Morning America, in 2017, pop star Kesha (real name Kesha Rose Sebert) was to promote her then-new album ‘Rainbow’. When asked by presenter Robin Roberts how she felt on coming on the show, the Tik Tok singer had discussed how she was “backstage punching stuff and crying” and that she “has so many emotions… all the time.”

Roberts then discusses how Kesha’s song Praying came to draw up meanings of depression and suicide. After this, Kesha almost struggles to speak and mentions that “It’s so personal. I’ve written every song on this album, and they're all so personal.”

Back in 2014, Kesha had made a case and allegation against her record producer, Dr Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald), claiming that he had sexually assaulted her plus many other instances during the ten years she had been contracted with him. Dr Luke, famous for writing songs for likes of other music artists such as Katy Perry, Pink, and Avril Lavigne, denies all allegations and claims that Kesha and her mother had made these claims in order for her to end their contract.

Roberts then goes on about how the legal issues that Kesha, herself, are facing are not something they will discuss on-air, but does ask her how the music has helped her. Managing to find her words, she replies, “Well, I think this record has literally saved my life. And I hope you guys like it and I hope you can hear it and it helps people.”

In terms of the legal issues that the award-winning singer had put forward to the courts, however, she requested an application to be granted a preliminary conjunction against Gottwald in 2016. Though she and her team appealed many times, this and all her other counter-claims remained denied by the courts.

There was a petition that fans of the singer had created, through social networking sites, that was entitled “Free Kesha”. This petition’s focus was solely on sexual assault in the media industry, and to support Kesha in leaving her contract at her own free will. This petition got support from the likes of Taylor Swift, Zedd, and Madison Beer.

She discusses that her album title Rainbow symbolises hope and this is something which is significant in the lyrics of her song Praying.

The lyrics which state “Cause you brought the flames and you put me through hell, I had to learn how to fight for myself”, were lyrics she stated had meaning on her fight for freedom from her contract.
