Transgender Awareness Week (November 13–19) is a time dedicated to celebrating the beauty of diverse gender identities and to honor the resilience of the transgender community. ✊🏽🏳️‍⚧️

This week serves as a poignant precursor to the Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, an occasion to memorialize victims of transphobic violence 🕊️ and raise awareness about the challenges faced by the transgender community.

For many cultures, the understanding of diverse gender expressions was harmonious until the impact of colonization. To dismantle colonial thinking, we recognize the power of representation. 🎯 By amplifying diverse voices, we challenge outdated perspectives and pave the way for a more inclusive future.

Thank you for being part of our community, committed to embracing diversity and amplifying authentic voices.

A memoir that invites you into the personal journey of a transgender woman, challenging preconceived notions and inspiring understanding.

Leading transgender rights activist Janet Mock tells her own story in Redefining Realness. Be prepared: this is a beautifully written book but it is definitely not a happy-go-lucky read. We found it to be heart-wrenching and it had us in tears.

Disclosure (Documentary)

Disclosure: This documentary provides a profound exploration of transgender representation in media, offering insights into the impact of these portrayals on society.

Sam Seder (director) brings us eye-opening moments in misrepresenting transgender lives. Through art, storytelling, and interviews with transgender creatives such as Laverne Cox, we see how the on-screen portrayal of the trans community has shaped the worldview of trans lives.

Rūrangi (TV Show)

Rūrangi: A powerful series that delves into the experiences of a transgender activist returning to his rural New Zealand hometown, touching on identity, acceptance, and the complexities of small-town life.

After spending a lifetime running from home, Caz must learn to reconnect with his family, his community, and himself. A refreshing take on queer themes without transphobia, an exploration of te ao Māori, and uplifting friendships and breathtaking romance; we loved this honest exploration of the clunky journey to acceptance.
