Her body can bear more
A hit here and a fist there
Her tender heart too can endure
A curse here and an abuse there
But her torn soul, he rendered threadbare
cries Enough!

It is ripped beyond repair
Will it ever mend?
Numerous patches sewn through the ages..

She dreamt long enough to leave
And then foolishly made herself believe
that some day, some day
he will see through.
That she is neither a punching bag
nor a door mat.
That she does breathe and feel.

Giddy up girl, break this cactus prison
Take this long stalled decision
How long will you keep drinking this poison?
Of the torrential abuses, and soul damaging expletives.
Aimed to make you feel worthless,
sucking out blood like a leech

Let not any vague hope hold you back
that some day, some day
he will see through
and acknowledge the human in you.

Giddy up girl! now the time is ripe
And to hell with all his gibes
The bottle is full, ready to explode
The seed must break for the life to sprout

The Universe will come down to help
Once you take the first step
As they say, a thousand miles start with a single step

Giddy up girl! Fly …far… free…
and never look back.
Period.

This poem is written for anyone and everyone caught in a poisonous relationship and need just that extra push to free oneself from the clutches of their own limitations. Be brave and break the prison. As they say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Love and hugs!
