How to Get Started as a Freelance Copy Editor
I can’t promise success, but since you asked, I have some thoughts and suggestions.
I wrote an article a few months ago about how I became a full-time freelance copy editor. My path to this career was kind of random, and completely unplanned. It had a lot of twists and turns along the way, so I thought it might make for an entertaining story.
As it turns out, a lot of readers write to me, asking if I have suggestions for how they can get started on this path. Now, that could be because I put the link to my website’s “contact me” form in the article; but maybe, just maybe, there’s a bunch of you out there who’d love to try the whole “get paid to read books at home all day” lifestyle too.
I am happy to help! It’s an awesome lifestyle; I highly recommend it, and I think there’s room for more of us in the field. As I said, my way in was full of happenstance and randomness, but there are some concrete suggestions buried in my earlier piece, which I will highlight and expand on here.
