Is McDonald’s Out to Get Joe Biden, or Is This All a Lot of Fake News?

Our social media feed is full of food memes, freaking out about fast food prices. Most of the ire is aimed at №1 ranked McDonald’s.

Like all politics, many memes are “fake news” or misleading, so I wondered if a rival (like Burger King or the chicken chains) was behind some attacks. Or maybe they are just piling on?

A new survey from LendingTree shows that 78 percent of consumers suddenly see fast food as a “luxury” purchase because of higher prices. Food inflation is a fact—it has been the single most noticeable day-to-day change since Joe Biden became president.

Unless you live in Ukraine or on the U.S. southern border, you likely don’t notice some of the most talked-about campaign issues, but you do notice rising food costs: The survey found that 62 percent of Americans said they are eating it less often because prices have gone up.
