It took me decades to finally figure out the recipe on how to properly give and receive love. For a long time, the difference between expectations and standards was quite confusing to me.

And I didn’t exactly understand why people disappointed me all the time.

It’s because I was simply expecting too much.

Expectations and standards both play a big role in relationships. While expectations entertain ideas on how we want situations to turn out; standards encourage us to take ownership of the things happening in our lives.

Ultimately, knowing your standards can set the tone for your expectations.

Stop analyzing your relationships.

One thing that could drive you to insanity is actively obsessing and overthinking your relationships.

Perhaps you just met up with a few friends for drinks last month and now you’re wondering why they haven’t bothered to make new plans with you. Or maybe you’ve been anxious about the fact that they haven’t responded to your last invitation.
