Somewhere
near the edge of our reality,
there is a small guard booth

that’s always shut down.

It’s a door, like a narrow ladder
with an embedded beam of light.

The guard booth has metal bars on top
that will not allow anyone to get in
unless you have at least a toothpick in your mouth
to push against the bars.

Sometimes people do get through
but there are always cameras and wires everywhere.

So the guard booth is almost like
some kind of gateway into the real world
where you don’t have to say things
but are constantly being watched.

No, in the real world, there is no ceiling
because there’s no reality in there.
