Kobe wearing a jersey with a number.

8 vs 24: Which Kobe was — please shut up.

Stop talking about this.

Kobe Bryant, a professional male basketball player, now aged 39, wore two different numbers on his jersey during his basketball career in the National Basketball Association.

Apparently this is a big deal.

Literally the only reason for players even having numbers is for the ease of the bookkeepers and referees.

Here’s the breakdown of the numbers, in case you were hoping for one:

8: one digit; one less than 9; usually drawn using the ‘snowman’ technique until age 8 (age 11 in my case); number of slices a pizza is typically cut into; a Fibonacci number

24: two digits; comprised of numbers 2 and 4; one less than 25; a composite number; the number of hours in a day; the number of karats of gold an object needs for it to be considered ‘pure gold’

It’s quite a tough call — call it a draw.

This is a dumb question. People should stop asking it.
