I decided to create the below map because I remember watching the 2016 election on TV and realizing how quickly counties flipped to one party and then states flipped as a result. I was especially interested in the 2016 election because Macomb County here in Michigan was one of the counties that turned Republican, which then turned Michigan, Republican, helping Donald Trump win. It is interesting to notice that the middle of the United States is very heavily Republican leaning. It is also worth noting that more counties are Republican, however many of the Democratic counties have larger populations, which makes sense because Hillary Clinton won the popular vote.
