We are almost done with the home study! Wahoo! Nate and I traveled to Dallas this past weekend to visit my parents, and lo and behold, our case worker lives in North Dallas. She asked us if we would be willing to meet her at her home for the interviews, and we immediately jumped on the opportunity with a resounding YES!

Friday, October 7th, we headed to Wylie for our interviews. Going to meet a new person in their personal home can be quite intimidating, but as soon as we began talking with Tori, our nerves began to melt away. She was kind, personable, real, and casual. This made the interview process go smoothly because it felt more like a conversation with a friend rather than an “official” interview process.

She asked us questions about our marriage, our families, our faith, our careers, and our community. We shared about our struggles with infertility and, although it is still “assumed” infertility because we have decided to forgo any fertility treatments, we know that our situation has us perfectly positioned to follow God’s instruction of caring for widows and orphans.

We paused to eat dinner and dessert, and then continued on with the questions. By the time we were done, we had already been at her home 5 HOURS. Time flew by!

She, Lord-willing, will be coming to our home this Saturday to finish up the interview portion with our individual interviews, and to do our home inspection. After that, it will take her about a week to write up our home study, and then…

we will officially be a waiting family.

We are so blessed and encouraged by all of the texts and comments people have shared along our journey, and especially in regards to our home study. We are beyond thankful for everyone’s love and support as we continue to build our family through adoption!
