Welcome to the National Democratic Training Committee!

What is the NDTC?

Well, it is our goal to create the ultimate political candidate training tool and resource center for any Democrat running for office anywhere in the country.

The strategies and tactics of modern campaigns apply across the spectrum of elections. Big. Small. State. Local. It doesn’t matter if you want to run for school board, mayor, city council or even Congress.

How you choose to implement and adapt these strategies and tactics to meet your goals for your race is what makes your campaign unique.

We want to show you, the candidate, how to make the best decisions possible.

We do this using the National Democratic Training Committee’s “Ideal Campaign Philosophy”:

• Run your campaign like a business, focused on one goal: Winning.

• Your campaign should be data driven.

• You campaign should be self reliant

• Campaigns are about relationships.

That’s our goal plain and simple. If you’re a Democrat who wants to run for office, but have no idea where to start, we are here for you.

If you are a seasoned incumbent looking to run your campaign better or more efficiently, we can help.

Maybe you just want to know how to run a campaign. Come on in. We’d love to talk.

How to Run for Office

The truth is most candidates for office have no idea where to start or how to begin, let alone run a campaign. They are forced to learn on their own — essentially recreating the wheel over and over.

Running for office, raising money, talking to voters, these can be daunting and intimidating tasks if you don’t know what you are doing.

We can fix this.

We’ve started with 10 simple lessons on how to start and run your campaign from filing day through election night.

These initial lessons focus on the four areas of campaigns:

Field
Finance
Media
Management

We show you how to create a plan for each using video and text for all learning types.

(Quick personal observation here: seeing yourself on video for the first time is strange. Seeing yourself on a video to be used for commercial purposes is past strange and into a much longer blog post.)

We also include downloadable templates and suggestions from our years of experience.

We Want to Hear from You

Of course, we’ll be growing, changing and adapting over time. We want to make this tool as effective a possible, but we need your help.

We want to hear from you.

Your feedback on the lessons, the blog, the downloads, any and all of it, we want to know what you think.

Are you facing a tough decision on a campaign? Do you want us to write about a particular topic? Don’t be shy. Shoot us an email. Post below. Tweet us. Facebook. Whatever. Just ask it and we’ll answer.

Whew, OK. First blog post done. At least this is better than call time…
