Pop singer bitten by cobra on stage, keeps singing for 45 minutes before collapsing and dying: reports

An Indonesian pop singer died after she was bit by a snake on stage, local news outlets reported this week.

Irma Bule, 29 — who regularly used snakes in her performances — stepped on a king cobra during a concert Sunday night in West Java, and it in turn bit her in the thigh, witness Ferlando Octavion Auzura told Mercata.com, a local news outlet.

Video posted online apparently shows the woman on stage with the cobra when her body jerks back. A man appears to carefully pull the cobra off her thigh.

According to reports, Bule believed the cobra had been defanged.

After the bite, Bule continued her performance for as long as 45 minutes until she collapsed and started vomiting, the witness told Mercata.

She was pronounced dead in hospital the following day, Kompas reported.

Indonesian police are investigating the incident.
