BAY RIDGE — Nearly 350 people have voted as of noon on Tuesday for the 2017 primary in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Poll workers stationed at Public School 185, a local elementary school, were pleased with the turnout thus far.

Henry Kobasky was among the members of the community who voted at this precinct. Kobasky was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, 86 years ago and also spent his adolescence there, too. Kobasky has terminal cancer, yet he still made it out to his local precinct to exercise his civic duty to vote.

“I am not too happy with the present administration — unfortunately, they’re all Democrat and I am a Republican,” said Kobasky, as the sound of children exercising can be heard in the background on this sunny Tuesday afternoon. He is a former elementary school teacher that has been retired for 26 years.

“It was difficult for me to vote because the Republicans this year did little or nothing. They were not on television. They did send out a bunch of post cards. I only knew two. The other names I didn’t,” Kobasky said. “I doubt that any Republics will get a seat of any kind, but I still have to vote.”
