Event communities enable organizers to collaborate with speakers, artists & attendees on organizing key aspects of these events. Utilizing a community for this purpose can help to increase input and activity surrounding the event and provide a means of fundraising for organizers.

Community Examples

Here are a few communities we think could effectively leverage the Native platform:

  • Cryptocurrency Conference promote tokens amongst developers within an area.
  • Electronic dance music (EDM) festival — increase attendance and receive funding for a festival that is held multiple times per year.
  • Comic Book Conference connect readers and writers who are passionate about comics.

Token Use

The token in an Event Community may serve as a way of admission, as well as contribution and voting on the activities that occur within the event.

Additionally, there could be a function that allows for revenue sharing with initial contributors to the event. Once enough tickets are purchased and the event occurs, profits could be distributed to token holders.

Membership Benefits

What are some potential benefits of being a member of the Community?

  • Discounted tickets to conferences or festivals
  • Profit distribution to token holders after a successful event
  • Having a direct say in which artists/speakers attend the event

Projects

What type of efforts could be proposed within the Community?

  • Support the token launches that are being pitched at the event
  • Bringing in a local food truck to have higher quality food
  • Finding local speaker/sound infrastructure providers for the event

Votes

What insights can an administrator gather here from the community’s members?

  • Members like sponsors can vote on different benefits they get in return.
  • Attendees can have a say on what topics/workshops are presented at the conference or which artists perform at the event.
  • Speakers get a say in what topics are discussed at the conference or event organizers have a say in what company provides the festival infrastructure.

Tasks

What are the things that need to be accomplished for the community to thrive that can be taken on by members?

  • Selling tickets to the event
  • Finding sponsors and/or artists for the event
  • Volunteering to set up the physical location

Conclusions

Event Communities can create conditions for a more desirable and attendee engaged event. If the event is a series or occurs often, the token economy can exist in perpetuity. Voting is an exciting way to engage participants more meaningfully and to encourage future attendance.

We would like to acknowledge that these event community examples are simply a subset of possible communities to be built on Native. We are excited to see what communities ultimately do with our platform. Please reach out to us with any interesting ideas.
