At NATIX, we’ve developed NATIX Vision Software Development Kit (SDK) which enables you to build event detection AI of your choice with only a few lines of code. Simplicity and privacy preservation are the key criteria when it comes to our SDK. It’s written in python which enables easy comprehension by software developers in the field. Two of the basic features of our SDK enabling the user to build their desired use-cases are:

  • Object recognition and counting: detect and count objects such as humans, bicycles, vehicles, clothes and equipment, tools, etc.
  • Virtual fencing / Geofencing: define virtual fences, and count and aggregate the number of objects inside, outside, entering, or leaving these areas.

Combining these features and even more, the user can create a wide range of use-cases. Once the event detection AI is created, you can use other technical enablers of NATIX to deploy it on the hardware of your choice, over the air, and in no time.

In order to demonstrate these features to our community and clients, we brought a simplified version into our NATIX Vision App. You can freely test the features and get creative in building your own use-cases.

In this article, we will introduce only the newest features of NATIX Vision App. If you are interested to find out more about the product, please have a look at our previous article here.

NATIX Vision App

The NATIX Vision App is an iOS application that shows you several possibilities of Event Detection AI applicable for cities and industry. Below we have listed the newly added features:

  • Object counting (see image below). We added this feature to face anonymization, body anonymization, and traffic participant detection. A relevant use-case for such AI would be crowd size detection for cities. Planning has been ruled for decades by automobile interests but that’s changing now. Insights on crowd size and density are becoming more popular to design better and safer streets, parks, bike-share systems, and bus networks. Current existing solutions only offer such insights of limited extent and quality. Our Crowd Density solution, on the other hand, is a camera-based solution that provides real-time and over-time insights on the crowd size and density at different locations of the city or events. The solution comes with analytics and reporting tools that help the cities with better planning.

  • Zoned object counting (combining object detection, object counting and virtual fencing) in both left and right zones of the screen (see image below). We combined geofencing with object detection and counting for people and traffic participants. This resulted in 2 new models in our NATIX Vision App (you can find them at the very end of the list). As just one example, this feature can be used for parking lot management. Traffic congestion is a known issue resulting from drivers searching for a parking spot. The current solutions that are trying to solve this problem are expensive and difficult to implement (e.g. one sensor per parking spot). NATIX offers a much more optimal solution for this — Parking Spot Monitoring — our AI-based parking lot management system (detects spot availability, parking duration, parking violations, and more) with integrated analytics, helping municipalities and outdoor parking operators to gain real-time insight into their parking lots and manage them more efficiently. Another interesting use-case example would be for industrial facilities to prevent accidents and improve worker safety. Injuries caused by the negligence in workplace safety monitoring result in billions of Euros of direct cost per year. Current manual monitorings by safety personnel is not enough as they are expensive and prone to human error. NATIX Zone Safety Supervision enables industries to monitor sensitive areas within their facilities and detect human presence that is violating the safety protocol violations (e.g. staff presence next to an operating machine)
