WATCH: Ethan Horvath debuts for Club Brugge
The 21-year-old goalkeeper created goals for his side and the oppositon
Ethan Horvath made his debut debut for Club Brugge today in a win over Charleroi. Brugge remains in 2nd place behind Anderlecht and maintains a spot in next year’s Champions League qualifiers.
The defending champions came out of halftime ahead 1–0 thanks to a Jose Izquierdo goal just before the break—but their lead was short lived when a hasty mistake from Horvath gifted Charleroi an equalizing goal just a few minutes into the second half after he wrongly thought play had been stopped due to an offside call.
Fortunately, Izquierdo restored the team’s lead just one minute later with his 2nd goal of the match. But it wasn’t until the 77th minute that Horvath would be redeemed for his earlier blunder. He managed to record a rare goalkeeper-assist after a well-placed kick fell into a dangerous area behind the opposing backline. The ball wasn’t dealt with properly by the Charleroi defense and eventually found its way to Izquierdo who completed his hat-trick and secured the victory for Brugge.
