Weekend Lookahead
With vital World Cup qualifiers just one month away it’s crunch time for any USMNT hopefuls in Europe or Mexico

Friday
[10:00 PM ET]
Paul Arriola, Michael Orozco, Joe Corona vs. Edgar Castillo: Tijuana vs. Monterrey (Azteca America Network)
Friday night’s Liga MX matchup has the potential to display a whole host of American talent — most notably Paul Arriola, who is persistently making his case to be involved with the MNT in the fast-approaching World Cup qualifiers.
Saturday
[9:30 AM ET]
The key action kicks off with a possible triple threat of Bundesliga appearances. Bobby Wood just rejoined training with Hamburg yesterday, so it’s doubtful that he will take his usual spot in the starting XI against Bayern (Fox Sports 2, Fox Soccer 2Go). Terrence Boyd should be leading the line for Darmstadt from the outset against Augsburg (Fox Soccer 2Go) and there’s no reason to think Christian Pulisic won’t be involved in some capacity with Dortmund as they take on Freiburg (Fox Deportes, Fox Soccer Plus, Fox Soccer 2Go).
[10:00 AM ET]
DeAndre Yedlin will look to continue his phenomenal run of form as league leaders Newcastle hosts lowly Bristol City. Lynden Gooch is yet to return to action for Sunderland since his recovery from November’s ankle injury, but he’ll hope this changes as the Black Cats take on Everton.
Having been given the captain’s armband last month, Eric Lichaj should certainly start for Nottingham Forest while new teammate Gboly Ariyibi will be hoping he can find a way onto the pitch for his debut.
[12:30 PM ET]
Bundesliga action continues just after noon with two lynchpins of their respective teams facing off: John Brooks and Timothy Chandler. With Frankfurt in 5th-place and Hertha just a point behind them in 6th, this’ll surely be one to watch (Fox Sports 2, Fox Soccer 2Go). Danny Williams should continue to play a key role for 4th-placed Reading who are pushing for the promotion qualification spots in The Championship.

With an injury to regular starter Maikel van der Wer, Matt Miazga is expected to start for Vitesse as they take on Go Ahead Eagles.
[7:30 AM ET]
Four consecutive starts, four wins, and goal to his name — Julian Green will almost certainly take his place on the left wing for Stuttgart as they take on Kaiserslautern.
[8:30 AM ET]
The early match in England sees Spurs face-off against Stoke City but unfortunately for all you early-risers, neither of the Americans are likely to be involved. Cameron Carter-Vickers remains just out the starting XI on the squad’s depth chart, while Geoff Cameron is still not considered fully fit by Stoke’s medical team (NBCSN, Telemundo).
[9:30 AM ET]
Another Bundesliga showdown as Alfredo Morales and Ingolstadt host Fabian Johnson and Gladbach (Fox Sports 2, Fox Soccer 2Go). Johnson has returned to the starting XI for Gladbach their last two matches and Morales is regular starter for his side so you can expect to see both on the pitch for this one.
