“Big Data”

The term should be suffixed with “sets” because “big data sets” makes it even more self-explanatory. This definition says:

“Big data is data sets that are so voluminous and complex that traditional dataprocessing application software are inadequate to deal with them.”

“Artificial Intelligence”

This refers to all efforts and techniques made to emulate human intelligence. It’s a very broad field. Machine Learning pushed the industry forward with respects to these efforts.

“Machine Learning”

This article says,

“Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed.”

There are several machine learning algorithms. Click here for the ultimate cheat sheet to using these algorithms.

“Data Science” and “Data Analyst”

From https://www.import.io/post/data-scientists-vs-data-analysts-why-the-distinction-matters/

Data Science:

In a nutshell:

Data Analysis/BI Analysis:

“Data analysts are generally well versed in Sequel, they know a some Regular Expressions, they can slice and dice data, they can use analytics or BI packages — like Tableau or Pentaho or an in house analytics solution — and they can tell a story from the data.”

In short, very similar and there’s some controversy about differences. I.e.:.

”Deep Learning”

One of the subsets of machine learning algorithm that has gained a ton of traction in recent years.

So there. Kodos to those who are mindful about how they use these powerful concepts!
