#ATMOAsia’s Technology Case Studies session was jam-packed with information presentations from Scantec, Sphere Asia, TEKO, Emerson, Embraco, ASHRAE Thailand & ITC, and GIZ Proklima!
Stefan Jensen of Scantec talked about the latest progress with low charge ammonia systems and its possible applications to the Southeast Asia region.

NATREF SOLUTIONS FOR ASIA
Scantec, Sphere Solutions, Beijer Ref, Embraco, Godrej and #sheccoBase participated at #ATMOAsia’s #NatRefs Solutions for #Asia session. They spoke about the latest market trends & developments for the industry, and their future vision.
Stefan Jensen, Managing Director, Scantec gave an overview of the latest technology developments with low charge ammonia systems on the market currently.

Wynand Groenewald from Sphere Solutions talked about how using CO2 heat pumps can significantly reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions, and even water use in the hospitality sector.

Inderpal Saund, Beijer Ref talked about how CO2 technology has evolved throughout history and how there is not one solution that fits all and end users must look carefully to decide what is right for them.

Esequias Pereira from Embraco talked about how hydrocarbons have become widely accepted in household refrigeration and is making significant progress in the light commercial and commercial sectors around the world.

Abhijit Acharekar from Godrej talked about the success the company has already seen with HC RAC systems and its focus on improving its already established trained technician base.

Southeast Asia opportunity to leapfrog HFCs
The strong interest in the conference is much welcome as Southeast Asia is one of the most important regions in the world due to the increasing need for HVAC&R solutions, due to its climate, growing population and rapid development. Which also presents many opportunities but also challenges.
One of the biggest opportunities for the region is to leapfrog from highly potent HCFCs to environmentally friendly natural refrigerant technologies, which also presents big business opportunities for those in the industry. At the same time, the lack of knowledge in natural refrigerant systems, lack of trained personnel and strict government action (such as Europe’s F-gas regulation) pushing end users to invest in long-term solutions are some of the challenges faced.

ATMO Asia 2018 Press Release
The 5th annual ATMOsphere Asia conference on natural refrigerant-based HVAC&R solutions for Asia will arrive in Singapore on 4 September, the day before comfort cooling exhibition Mostra Convegno Expocomport (MCE) Asia kicks off in the same city (5–7 September).
With natural refrigerants poised to play a greater role in the global HVAC&R landscape following regulatory changes at global and national level (not least thanks to international agreements such as the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol), Southeast Asia — a warm-climate region with over 500 million inhabitants, whose growing middle class is fuelling increased demand for air conditioning — looks set to play a pivotal role in determining whether or not the world will meet its climate goals.
Singapore plays host to this year’s ATMOsphere Asia, the Southeast Asian edition of the global ATMOsphere conference series organised by shecco to help bring climate-friendly HVAC&R solutions to market. The city-state is known for being international, technology-savvy and environmentally friendly — some of the same values embodied by ATMOsphere events.
Against this backdrop, the conference will serve as a platform to bring together local and international stakeholders with its comprehensive programme of sessions on policy and regulations, and market and technology trends. The programme features an end user panel, case study presentations and several networking opportunities.
Discussions will revolve around bringing sustainable and business-savvy natural refrigerant-based HVAC&R solutions to market in Southeast Asia, addressing the opportunities and challenges faced by the sector, efficiency in warm climates, policy updates from Southeast Asia, and the latest natural refrigerant-based technology updates.
Among the event highlights is a diverse end user panel representing several different sectors, with interventions from Kiat Ananda Cold Storage (Indonesia’s largest cold store operator); MClean Technologies (a Singaporean precision cleaning and surface treatment service provider); Phapros (an Indonesian pharmaceutical company) and hotel firms Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel the Stamford, and Hilton. These end users will present the HVAC&R needs of their businesses and their future plans. In acknowledgement of the crucial role they play in growing the natural refrigerant sector, end users are welcome to attend the conference free of charge.
Other key presenters include Stefan Jensen of Scantec (an expert on low-charge ammonia solutions), Inderpal Saund of Beijer Ref (an expert on CO2 refrigeration) and Philipp Munzinger from GIZ Proklima (an international expert on hydrocarbon air conditioners).
