Welcome to the newly created Nature Words, a blog where members from the YESS network contribute regularly with posts about our environment.

But what is YESS?

Our highly optimistic acronym “YESS” stands for Young Ecosystem Service Specialists. We are a group of early-career researchers that study and work with the benefits that humanity obtains from the world’s environments. These benefits are called ecosystem services (and sometimes nature’s contribution to people) and they are everywhere!

Just think about the last time you went to the beach and enjoyed a lovely sunny day, the fresh air you breathe, the materials used to build your home, or even your most recent meal! All these benefits are products from nature.

The primary aim of the group is to stimulate an exchange of ideas, identify knowledge gaps and improve possibilities for training and capacity building in relation to ecosystem service science and practice. This network aims to achieve actual co-operation, explore ideas for innovative research and to gain experience in critical thinking and science communication.

What can I expect to read here on Nature Words?

Nature Words is a collaborative blog where our members from all over the world will be able to express their thoughts on recent scientific achievements, personal experiences, and even show their more artistic side.

The general theme to the blog is ecosystem services and the lives of our early-career researchers in this field. We will dive in our oceans, take walks across woodlands, climb mountains, and everything in between.
