Why Do We Need Antioxidants?

Harmful substances produce unstable free radicals — injured molecules that miss an election (electrons are usually paired). They then become reactive, as they seek out healthy cells from which to steal electrons. These free radicals are created as byproducts of natural reactions, pollution, radiation or toxins.

We all know that blueberries, blackberries, pomegranates, green tea, grapes and dark chocolate are antioxidant rich foods, but what does that mean?

Antioxidants have the ability to neutralize reactive molecules that are forced into their condition by damage.

Antioxidants come in many different forms — vitamins A, B, C, and E, lycopenes, luteins, polyphenols, selenium, etc. They greet free radicals either by providing the extra electron, so they can help them make a pair, or by breaking down single electrons. Antioxidants repair and disarm.

Why Do We Need Glutathione Specifically?

Glutathione prevents cellular deterioration that results from aging. It is also used to fight oxidative stress, the imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants in the body that leads to premature cell damage. It is the ultimate super antioxidant and it is present in every cell of our bodies. It’s one of the most powerful substances in our bodies and it’s made by our own liver cells. As the liver ages, its ability to produce ample amounts of this miraculous substance diminishes.

Almost all people over the age of 40 need more glutathione. Young people who have high amounts of stress, smokers, night time workers, and those exposed to harmful chemicals and radiation also need to consider supplementation.

Glutathione deficiency may lead to heart disease, asthma, infertility, neurodegenerative conditions, cognitive disorders, and even cancer.

Glutathione is commonly recommended for mercury detoxification, fatigue, neuropathy, psoriasis, Lyme Disease, a number of autoimmune conditions, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Please be mindful that prolonged use may cause zinc deficiencies. As with all supplements, create a schedule to stop and start in order to keep your cell receptors open and up-regulated.

Glutathione is an essential detoxifier and it plays a major role in the health of the immune system. It’s vital to skin health and wrinkle repair.

Takeaway

As always, good nutrition is key. Making a concerted effort to consume fruits and salads daily provides antioxidant power that no supplement can unseat. Need a boost? This quality product is a good place to start.
