Hackathons have been a part of our engineering culture since last many years. The energy and passion it generates is addictive! Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the thrill & great memories of previous years, pushed us to think of a format that could make it possible in virtual or a remote mode.

Innovation, ideation & drive to make things out of scratch was what pulled together more than 70 teams to deliver successfully at the 11th-12th Sept’20, 36hr Info Edge hackathon!

An experienced evaluation panel consisting of Engineering leaders from Naukri, Shiksha, 99acres, Jeevansathi, AmbitionBox and IIMjobs (the business units of InfoEdge) came together and were very impressed by the breadth and depth of the ideas presented.

Examples from an asset reservation system that can help plan seating for employees in COVID times while maintaining social distancing to a smooth phonebook based jobsearch app that can help get a referral. Not just experienced engineers, freshers also picked up the tradition and came up with brilliant concepts & implementations.

There were grooming sessions to help teams refine their ideas and arrive at a clear set of objectives to achieve during hackathon.

Inspired by COVID, many projects focused on “how to make the best of technology to benefit our users”. From innovative use of technology to make registration, search, and recommendations better to ideas around optimizing revenue, improving online conversions, the list is long.

The virus of Innovation definitely won over any other virus on these 2 days!
