Hello Navigators,

As you know, Private NFT and Private Token features was added to the Navcoin blockchain last year. Thus, it is now possible to develop Web3 applications on the Navcoin blockchain.

We’d like to share with you information about the exciting projects we’ve been working on over the past few months.

NFT Marketplace

Our first project is an open source NFT Marketplace built on a decentralized structure and functions as an anonymous service provider for NFT creators, sellers and buyers.

You can sell the NFTs in your wallet on the marketplace, or you can buy the NFTs directly without any intermediaries with the wallet extension running on Chrome browser or mobile wallet.

Marketplace only stores sell orders for buyers and sellers.

You can discover NFTs available for sale under any category on the Marketplace and easily buy with complete privacy.

We are planning to open Marketplace running on Priverse.org on the testnet on May 23, 2022 and we wish to continue to develop it with the contributions of community members.

Navcoin Wallet Chrome Extension

We are developing a wallet that works as an extension for the Chrome browser, which will act as a bridge for Web3 applications, as well as many alternative wallets for desktop and mobile for our users.

This wallet is developed with the Navcoin-JS SDK and VueJS Javascript Framework, which we also use in some of our mobile wallets.

The main purpose of the wallet is to provide blockchain integration for various decentralized Web3 applications built on the Navcoin blockchain.

Definition of Web3

Before you try to find out “What is Web3 used for?” you should know what web3 is. In simple words, web3 or web 3.0 is the third stage in the evolution of the internet. It provides decentralized networks for delivering faster user experiences with better personalization. The notable technologies underlying the development of web3 include artificial intelligence, semantic web, and machine learning. In addition, the blockchain web3 use cases also showcase the involvement of cryptographic security with web3 to facilitate security for user information. You can find the following unique traits on web3.

  • Web3 is open, as it includes open-source software with the benefit of easy accessibility.
  • The web3 networks are permissionless where users and providers don’t need permission from centralized controlling organizations.
  • Another formidable trait evident in real world web3 use cases is the freedom for users to interact privately and in public without any intermediaries in a trustless environment.
  • Most important of all, web3 also offers ubiquity which can ensure availability of internet irrespective of location, time, and device. For example, IoT technology can help in accessing internet services through many intelligent gadgets other than voice assistants.

The most prominent Web3 example in real use cases will draw you towards blockchain-based games. Developed on blockchain technology, the games offer their personalized economies where players have actual ownership over in-game items. The blockchain games are one of the notable answers to “What is web3 used for?” especially considering the fact that they were the earliest web3 applications.

Blockchain-based games offer the flexibility of transferring in-game objects to other games. In the initial stages, blockchain games have shown a promising glimpse into the future of gaming. With the support of web3 principles, blockchain-based games could open up completely new virtual worlds and economies.

The significance of blockchain games as one of the top web3 use cases is evident in the use of decentralized technology for facilitating monetization opportunities to creators. Blockchain-based games use NFTs for allocating ownership of in-game items such as avatars, skins, tools, experience points, and upgrades. Interestingly, players can sell the NFTs for fiat currency on secondary marketplaces alongside the privilege of transferring assets between games.

Another prominent highlight of blockchain-based games in real world web3 use cases points at the play-to-earn models. One of the best examples of using web3 principles in the real world with gaming is Axie Infinity. It has served as a promising tool for many people to earn rewards in cryptocurrency by playing the game.

Game Engine SDKs for Navcoin

We are planning to develop SDKs for popular game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine for game developers to develop decentralized applications built on the Navcoin blockchain.

With the SDKs we will develop, it will be possible to connect to the Navcoin wallet, and the NFTs or Private Tokens on the wallet can be used within the game environment.

We aim to bring the SDKs we developed before the end of the year to the game developers by publishing them on the Unity Asset Store and Unreal Engine Marketplace.

Full featured FPS Game built on Navcoin blockchain

We are planning to develop a full-featured online FPS game as a reference to the use case of Navcoin Blockchain with Web3. The game is being developed with Unity and it will be possible to play on the browser with WebGL technology and standalone mode.

Navcoin Wallet Chrome Extension and Navcoin mobile wallets will be used to connect the game. Weapon camouflages, character skins and accessories specially created for the game can be used in-game via NFTs.

We look forward to making Navcoin’s strong privacy infrastructure available to developers along with Web3.

Stay tuned!
