We are about to bring you a guide to a mysterious place at the north of the world, shrouded in the mists of time and with a mysterious and ghostly atmosphere, a city of blackened stones and dark alleyways. A beautiful city. A city of writers. We are taking you to Edinburgh!

One of the most beautiful cities in Scotland, and a UNESCO City of Literature, writers have always loved Edinburgh. Conan Doyle based the world’s most famous detective (Sherlock Holmes, in case you are wondering), on a doctor from the city. J.K. Rowling wrote the first installment of the Harry Potter here and parts of the book were written at one of the stops on our whistle-stop tour of Edinburgh, The Elephant House pub. And speaking of pubs, our chosen tour guide even has a pub named him — Deacon Brodie’s Tavern, which he’ll take you to, if you dare.

Deacon Brodie, our guide, was the real-life inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde. A gentleman by day and an evil thief by night. He was eventually caught, tried for his crimes and executed, and even then, he managed to cheat death and escape. He’s quite a character! That’s why we think he’s the perfect person to show you his city — a city like a living creature which breathes and changes every foggy day, every red-tinged sunrise and every rainy night. It might be a good idea to go during the day, just in case!
