Who said November was a sad, cold, grey month?

We are going to tell you about some of the exciting events which happened in our Navibration cities in November and which have some kind of a connection to the stops found in our experiences. All you have to do is get navibrating!

1 November

The place is Washington and the Navibration stop is the White House. On November 1, 1950, an assassination attempt was made on President Truman’s life while staying at Blair House. He had been temporarily forced to leave the White House while it was undergoing minor renovations. Luckily for him, he survived. And luckily for you, our tour guide, Frederick Douglass, will be with you at every stop along the way, to keep you informed about the fascinating capital city of the United States.

13 November

On this day in 1850, the author, Robert Louis Stevenson was born. Stevenson’s Home, in Edinburgh, is now a museum, and after you’ve visited it and all the other stops included in our Edinburgh Experience, you can rest your feet and have a drink at the Deacon Brodie Tavern. Deacon Brodie is our trusted tour guide in Edinburgh and is said to have been the inspiration for Stevenson’s novel “The Strange Tale of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”.

19 November

The Prado Museum, in Madrid, was inaugurated on November 19, 1819, so next November it will be 200 years old, but don´t wait until then to visit. Beat the crowds and visit this mecca of the art world and the many other cultural delights Madrid has to offer in the company of the painter Velázquez with our Madrid Art Walk and Retiro experience. November is the perfect month to feast your eyes on some of the best paintings in the world.

20 November

If you are in Brussels on November 20 and you are navibrating anywhere near Place de la Bourse or the gothic church Notre Dame de Sablon, you might be lucky enough to enjoy the festivities of Saint V, held annually on this day. The city’s students take to the streets for a big celebration, much of which is centred around the Stock Exchange and the Sablon neighbourhood. What better way to get to know the locals?

23 November

The streets of Hollywood aren’t paved with gold, but you will find gold stars dotted around Hollywood Boulevard and Vine St. The first ones started to appear between 1956 and 1957, but finally, after various legal battles, the Hollywood Walk of Fame was officially inaugurated on November 23, 1960. Which star will you visit first?

November

What is about the month of November and the British Royal Family? The backdrop to this London experience is the majestic Westminster Abbey. Henry VI was crowned King of England there on November 4, 1429. Queen Elizabeth became queen on November 17, 1558, when her sister Queen Mary died. She was subsequently crowned in this famous Abbey. On November 20, 1947, the current British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, married Philip Mountbatten here, while she was still a princess. Get out of the cold and soak up the regal atmosphere of this jewel in the crown that is London.

If you are visiting any of our Navibration cities, you have no excuse now!

Get your coat, get your hat and get your scarf.

And don’t forget your mobile. You’ll need that too.

Then feel your way.

There’s nothing like a good walk to brush the winter blues away!
