“Game artist? Oh, so you make cartoons?”
“This is something I have heard from many people who do not understand my job and certainly do not understand the gaming industry. I was an electrical engineer who just took it up because I wasn’t aware of any other career, in science, back then as a kid. But, on a longer run, it finally paid off. Engineering isn’t just an education, it is an experience. It changes you.
Being a technical game artist isn’t about making cartoons but carefully balancing the technicality of the game with an artistic touch to smoothly work in coherence with each other. For a technical game artist, the biggest challenge is deriving inspiration and being creative all the time. There is a blend of both technical skills that meets creativity.”

“What do you have to say to the budding engineers of today?”
“The way you present yourself matters. Apart from having a sound technical knowledge, many ignore the part about improving their communication skills and how they present their thoughts to the world. Also, know what you are getting into. Be it a job or your higher education. Make sure you do a thorough due diligence. Make sure your heart is in the right place.”
