Dear friends, colleagues and partners,

I hope you all had a happy and relaxing holiday season with your loved ones. We have recharged our batteries and are now ready to resume our pace and continue to rapidly deliver our product.
The end of 2019 will bring the closing of our first year of efforts on the Nayms project. It’s been about a year, but it feels like much much longer as never in my career have I been part of a team that has delivered so much in so little time. Code-name “Project Jellyfish” now seems like a distant past. We started off at the beginning of the year with just two developers and a concept and created a first alpha build in May. This helped us get a firm grip on the newest available blockchain technologies and work through all the technical requirements necessary for the complete end-to-end functioning of our system.
We then brought on board our smart contract expert who introduced us to much needed established patterns and industry best practices on the blockchain side and our UI expert to transform our rough user interface into an extremely usable and beautiful application. Our attendance at Devcon 5 in Osaka in October confirmed our status and helped mark our territory in the insure-tech space. Our now four-person technical team has solidified and we are currently on track to deliver our beta release this summer along with a pilot release in early 2020.
Being such a small team, we have been nimble enough to be able to omit many traditional project management practices and function extremely efficiently by making faster technical decisions locally amongst developers instead of through management. As this has worked extremely well for us so far, we plan to continue to take advantage of this developer-centric approach as long as our team is small enough to allow us to do so. After our first beta release we plan to transition to a more agile managed approach as we grow our technical team through the end of 2020. This will mean clearer visibility by management and investors, more thorough documentation and more predictable feature additions.
I could not have asked for a better group of people to work with in all areas of our business. It truly feels like throughout 2019, the moons and the stars have been aligned in all areas to make this kind of progress possible. I’d like to thank our developers for being agile and flexible enough to “build our plane while we were flying it”, our CEO and business development team for growing the business while giving us the flexibility we needed early on, and most of all our investors for making it all possible by trusting us and believing in our vision and abilities.
Here at Nayms, we love what we are doing and are more motivated than ever to continue with the same momentum through 2020 and beyond.

I wish you all a happy and prosperous 2020!

Sincerely,
Theodore Georgas, Nayms CTO
