NDC Election Results Postponed until 4th October
Dear Community Members,
Thank you all for participating in the first set of elections to the NEAR Digital Collective (NDC). Collectively, this has been one of the most historic moments in not only the NEAR ecosystem but also Web3 in general.
As part of the NDC elections process, we need to share important information regarding the announcement of our election results. We will now be releasing the results at noon UTC on October 4th.
We’ve received an unanticipated high volume of Whistleblower Reports, totalling 47 at the time of this notice. To avoid any further delays, the Election Integrity Committee (EIC) will not consider any reports received after noon UTC on Thursday, 28 September to allow for sufficient time to review each claim
The high volume of reports should be viewed as a positive development in the election process. From the get-go, the community and electorate have been active and involved in the elections. And, as the reports illustrate, the community has truly rallied to uphold voter integrity.
To give the community due diligence for its amazing participation in voter integrity, the EIC requires adequate time to review each claim meticulously to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and fairness. Our approach demands extensive, rigorous data analysis to ensure impartial and consistent decisions.
It is crucial for the EIC to present a final report that clearly illustrates the context and the evidence-based decision-making process applied, whether it leads to action or no action. All decisions will be thoroughly supported by the Fair Voting Policy, applicable to all voters and candidates during the inaugural NDC election.
At the request of Illia Polosukhin during this week’s Ecosystem Roundtable meeting, we’ve brought in an external advisor to observe the decision-making process, reinforcing our commitment to fairness and integrity. More to come on this in the coming days!
We recognize the importance of proceeding with caution and precision, prioritizing clarity and thorough communication over speed. We are committed to ensuring the transparency, fairness, and accuracy of the election results and our final report. The NEAR community deserves nothing less.
