Since blockchain’s adoption is inevitable, it is safer to educate one’s self on its importance. This can be done through just sheer reading, listening to podcasts, learning from Youtube explainer videos, or even asking a friend about it. There are many resources out there that can provide information on the subject.
A topic is only interesting if we understand the importance of it in our lives. Well, that is debatable. A person, for instance, can just be naturally inclined to study mathematics. This can be so even if he doesn’t understand the full applications of the equations he is learning.
Some people are just wired to do or learn something. Perhaps you have an interest in a topic that doesn’t have any utility in the world at all. Yet, you still continue to do it or learn about it. Many people have hobbies and interests that are weird. From collecting cigarette butts to bee fighting, hobbies are as diverse as the number of species in the Amazon.
Nevertheless, we still have to educate ourselves on the things that directly impact our lives. If you are living in an industrialized country, you may have to learn how to drive, how do handle your finances, your insurance policies, taxes, and things like these. You simply cannot survive if you don’t discipline yourself to handle these matters. In fact, you are forced to deal with these necessary things in life.
This is especially true if you are coming from a third-world developing country and move to a highly-industrialized nation. You may have been just accustomed to the tropical weather, for example. Now you have to deal with the four seasons. You may have to endure the Winter. Seasonal Affective Disorder common in cold seasons may make you feel sad. Pun intended, of course.
Apart from the weather, you may have to learn the language of the country into which you have moved. This is not that much of a challenge if you are just in your formative years, such as being a preteen or a teenager. However, if you migrate in your 40s or 50s, learning the language is a bit of a challenge. Well, some people have a flair for learning languages.
The level of challenge that you face in learning the new language depends on the language itself. Is the new language similar to your mother tongue? German, French, Italian, Spanish, and English, for instance, are part of the Indo-European language family. If your mother tongue is within the same category as that of the new language you have to learn, you may not find it as hard to learn the new tongue.
The culture of the new country can also be a challenge. Even if you speak the same language as your new country, the way people do things can make you feel like you are an outsider. Just because you come from the United States of America speaking English doesn’t automatically mean that you can without friction integrate into the Kiwi culture in New Zealand.
The point that is being made here is that embracing change can be scary. People naturally shy away from uncomfortable scenarios that can threaten their way of doing things and adopt a new paradigm. However, some changes are inevitable. And those who don’t embrace change can be left behind.
