BEE: Creating the LinkedIn Experience for Web3

In its current form, it’s safe to say that Web3 is in a precarious position. The space is heavily reliant on a handful of centralised services (for example, reliance on the cloud-hosted node network Infura recently caused MetaMask to experience widespread outages) and on communication via legacy Web2 social platforms (i.e., Meta, Twitter, etc.) that can be slow on adopting Web3 technology and don’t necessarily align with the ethos of ‘cutting out the middleman’. Unfortunately, this means that if Twitter were to some day shut down or change its stance on hosting Web3 content on its platform, a large percentage of the space would likely disappear. This makes it clear that Web3-based infrastructure desperately needs to be built around the De-Fi services offering yield and arbitrage, centralised exchanges (CEXs), and plethora of NFT marketplaces that we find dominate the market today. If only, to strengthen the Web3 space and give it validity.

BEE was born to address these pitfalls: the LinkedIn-type service specifically targets itself at onboarding and upscaling Web3 users in the ecosystem. BEE sets its eyes on the ambitious plan to become the default professional networking tool for the entire Web3 space, while simultaneously acting as a complete HUB for education where all career routes on the blockchain are covered. As a recipient of a $ 50,000 grant from the NEAR Foundation in the beginning of March, BEE is well funded at the moment and is looking to potentially raise additional capital. Currently, BEE is gearing up for its upcoming launch at the end of July, and as we excitedly await its release, join us in finding out more about the BEE — as we outline its most notable attributes in the article below.

The BEExperience (Value Proposition)

BEE offers a complete recruitment framework and education experience that specialises in the Web3 space. Essentially, BEE acts as a service providing users with the full experience they need to land a job in the space. BEE features a multi-purpose job board, CV management service, and hub for learning educational content. Its end state model is to be the go-to platform and service for hiring entities looking to scout a consistent stream of talent to help scale and build out their projects. In order to achieve this, BEE aims to do the following:

  1. Attract the untapped talent pool that is currently uninvolved within the web3 ecosystem — being able to facilitate someone who is brand new to the web3 space and help familiarise them with the market they are entering (providing educational resources, personal advice and offering behind-the-scenes insights)
  2. Connect experienced users with a role that suits them within the space, whether they are full stack developers, work on product, or specialise in something that is explicitly non-technical like community managers and copywriters; chances are that if you currently don’t know where to look for fitting jobs within the space, you won’t have much luck finding access to the right opportunities

These goals are very compatible, and BEE sets out to achieve them by offering the following services:

  • Job Board — A platform that advertises vacancies for all potential job seekers to view; hiring entities will be given an account that can create, close and edit job listings; and, job seekers will be be given an account to upload their CV and portfolio, allowing them to start applying for any open positions
  • CV Database — A full CV database that hiring entities and recruiters can browse through; they will have access to a full list of candidates and be able to view their profile and CV, as well as any other relevant information
  • Application Management — BEE provides management tools on their website for both recruiters and job seekers, helping them organise and interact with job listings; with these tools, BEE users will be able to seamlessly manage their applications and applicants right up to the interview
  • Agency service — A personalised headhunter service that helps clients looking to hire specific roles; BEE will tap into their existing talent pool, handle an initial screening and, if required, conduct a specialised technical screening before passing along suitable candidates — giving potential clients the peace of mind that they are being passed proven talen.
  • Education — BEE offers video content, online and in person workshops, as well as curated courses for talent to further sharpen their skill sets; as BEE scales, it will be looking to offer tailored courses for specialised education sectors, allowing users receive custom qualifications

BEE x NEAR: A Partnership Destined for Onboarding the Next 1 Billion Users

BEE’s interest in the NEAR ecosystem extends far beyond its most recent grant. Among additional partnerships, BEE has collaborations in the works with:

  • NEAR Hacker House: Ecosystem — BEE will attend and help promote NEAR hacker houses by providing talent and educational frameworks for future events; The NEAR Hackerhouse is a great community full of developers, educators, and project owners (Confirmed Partner)
  • NEAR University — BEE will provide educational courses and frameworks for people looking to build on NEAR; with help of NEAR University, BEE seeks to facilitate the entire experience of onboarding new users into the NEAR ecosystem (TBC)

BEE’s educational service featured in these partnerships will offer courses and content through video series, modules, workshops and speaker events. BEE will offer this content for a wide range of roles within the space, catering to all types of experiences and skill sets. With the NEAR ecosystem rapidly growing each day, it provides the ideal foundation for collaboration, and hopefully — will help cultivate the full user experience (UX) when navigating the ever-expanding NEAR ecosystem.

NFT Holders: Exclusive Benefits & Features

While BEE’s education content will be free for everyone(!), the social networking service plans to host specialised workshops and speaker events, both virtual, and in-person. These will be exclusive for paying customers and BEE NFT holders (seen pictured above), the latter of which will have access to these offerings free of charge.

BEE NFT holders will also be able to book courses, reserve seats, and have voting ability on the DAO section of the BEE website — allowing users to add value within the community by building additional tools and services. Additionally, NFT holders will have access to the BEE personal advice service (seperate from the educational one), where the team offers potential contacts and case-by-case guidance on the particular nuances behind launching, building, and maintaining a project.

Blink Twice & BEE is Here (Closing Thoughts)
