As part of our initiative to highlight different projects building in the NEAR ecosystem, NEARWEEK interviewed Kunbi Oguneye, founder of Swap Bitssa. A platform that provides seamless, non-custodial swapping for exchanging stablecoins to fiat currency.
Coming from a background in strategy consultancy at McKinsey and at a major investment bank in Africa, Kunbi Oguneye is a true expert in the subject of payments. During his earlier career, Kunbi travelled to meet different clients across the world, and he noticed how difficult it was for money to travel across borders in countries that are not too distant geographically but have different regulatory requirements. This planted the seed in his mind for Swap Bitssa; and with the recent rise in popularity and liquidity of stablecoins, this developed into a full-blown Web3 concept.
In essence, Swap Bitssa acts as the answer for the demand to have digital assets turn into something that is usable in the day-to-day world. Swap Bitssa accepts all the popular stablecoins, offering multiple wallets users can connect to, and in return the platform provides you with a wide range of fiat currencies you can send anywhere imaginable (bank accounts, e-wallets, etc.) These funds can then be transferred to yourself or sent as a remittance payment to a beneficiary abroad. Most fiat payouts are under 30 minutes, with the service up and running 24/7 and 365 days of the year.
As you can imagine, Swap Bitssa offers the ideal solution for users who are unbanked or else live in a country undergoing high-inflation. And in the more extreme cases, the platform is also convenient for individuals interacting with war zones, natural disasters, and bureaucratic red tape.
