NEAT Protocol, a rollup protocol built on NEAR, has integrated The Graph to scale AI applications. The Graph is a blockchain-based development tool providing efficient data indexing and querying services for decentralized applications. NEAT has become the most utilized subgraph on NEAR, generating approximately 30 million calls per month.

The integration aims to strengthen Neat’s decentralized indexer network using the Graph and to accelerate the development of crypto AI applications on NEAR.

NEAT’s Innovative Rollup Approach on NEAR

NEAT is a rollup protocol built on NEAR designed specifically to scale AI and machine learning applications. It has recently received one million $NEAR staking delegation from NEAR Foundation to promote the growth of the AI ecosystem.

NEAT utilizes off-chain indexer nodes for execution and NEAR L1 as the data availability layer, eliminating the need for rollups to deploy smart contracts or run verification logic on L1. This simplified process significantly reduces the transaction costs of the rollup, making NEAT particularly suitable for compute-intensive applications like AI and gaming.

Decentralized Indexing for AI and Gaming

NEAT is building a fully customizable decentralized indexer network using The Graph, allowing any project to store data on the NEAR blockchain, deploy custom indexing logic on a set of decentralized indexer nodes, and achieve verifiable execution through zero-knowledge proofs. This decentralized approach addresses potential single points of failure and attack vectors associated with centralized indexers.

One of the most exciting use cases of decentralized indexing is in AI. NEAT indexers enable AI data, parameters, algorithms, models, and outputs to be stored as on-chain inscriptions, integrated with off-chain execution through zero-knowledge proofs. This opens the door to creating fully open-source AI-driven games, where users can shape the narrative, and the history is permanently stored on the blockchain. AI agent models, parameters, and decisions can be represented as minted NFTs, with their training and model parameters stored on-chain.

The combination of blockchain transparency and off-chain computational efficiency makes AI truly accessible and open for all, contributing to the development of an open internet.
