NEAR Inc. CEO Illia Polosukhin took to the stage at Web Summit to talk about how the next generation of the internet, Web3, is helping create a more open, and inclusive internet.
In the talk Illia recalls his journey into blockchain while working as one of the key contributors to Tensor Flow, Google’s machine learning and AI repository.
While working there, he found a lot of barriers to sending funds across the world to the distributed teams that helped build these code libraries and so started looking into blockchain as a solution.
After his initial forays, he realised there was a bigger opportunity than just creating a more seamless way of sending money to far flung corners of the earth.
This technology had the capability to reimagine finance, community and the tools we use to govern and organise the world. So Illia and co-founder Alex Skidanov started the NEAR journey.
We won’t spoil the rest of the talk, we’ll just say it’s a fascinating exploration in to NEAR’s journey and how crypto and blockchain is evolving into a more accessible version of the web we have today.
