We get a lot of questions on how best to deliver our personal finance course, so we’ve set out the various options in this blog post. We’re sure that schools will find new, innovative ways to deliver the course so we’ll update this list as we go along.

Feel free to send your suggestions to beth@nebulalearning.co.uk!

1. Morning form groups

We encourage teachers to deliver the course via a projector in morning form groups. Our course is divided into bite-sized modules consisting of short, 5- to 7-minute videos, an interactive quiz, and relevant discussion topics. Pupils can complete the quizzes as a class via a show of hands. We believe that this is the best way to deliver the course because pupils absorb information in chunks, rather than in one go. Teachers can also accompany the videos with the relevant discussion topics in our Teacher Resource Pack.

Ideal for: Sixth forms, schools with no PSHE time.
Estimated completion time:
1–3 weeks depending on how many videos teachers deliver each morning.

2. PSHE classes (in classrooms)

Schools that have designated PSHE lesson time or sporadic personal finance workshops can deliver our course during these sessions. The course has three distinct sections — Background Economics, Personal Finance and Understanding Investment — that each take around 30–35 minutes to complete. Our Teacher Resource Pack contains activities that pad out each of these sections so that they fill an entire class period.

Ideal for: Schools with dedicated PSHE/Citizenship times.
Estimated completion time: 3 weeks, assuming one class per course section.

3. In computer rooms

Pupils can also complete the course individually in computer rooms. Although this is a great way to deliver the course, we encourage teachers not to allow pupils to whizz through more than one section of the course per computer room session — it will mean that they fail to retain information and engage with the content. We suggest that teachers use the Teacher Resource Pack to foster class discussion around each course section.

Ideal for: Schools with available class time and computer rooms.
Estimated completion time: 3 weeks, assuming one computer room session per course section.

The above delivery methods are just suggestions and it’s totally up to you how your school chooses to implement our course.
