Late nights and early mornings. A passion for inspiring curiosity, intellect and critical thinking. Tireless dedication to their students, no matter what. And an endless desire to pass on their ethic as a life-long learner.

At the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, we know that teaching is one of the most important professions. Educators have the opportunity and ability not only to influence individual lives, but to help shape thriving communities and economies.

That’s why we are announcing a call for nominations for our 2017 Lawrence W. O’Toole Teacher Leadership Awards, to honor New England public high school educators who have worked to push for changes to student-centered learning at scale.

Maybe you know a teacher who has held professional development or coaching for other educators around student-centered practice, or maybe you work with a teacher who is advocating for district or statewide policy change around student-centered learning. Perhaps you’re a teacher yourself that has an active blog around student-centered approaches with a large readership.

From now until July 14th, we’re accepting applications for our Lawrence W. O’Toole Teacher Leadership Awards. We’ll select up to 12 winners from across New England to receive grants of $15,000 each to use to advance student-centered learning at scale. Award recipients will be recognized at an event in Boston on November 3rd. To nominate a teacher (even if it’s yourself), read more about the process here!
