O n the 17th and 18th of October, Nelson and Thanh from NEM Australia joined NEM Latam in attending the Blockchain Summit in Colombia.

Blockchain Summit Latam (BSL) is a conference that was launched with the focus of encouraging and adopting the use of Blockchain technology in both the public and private sector. The summit is a great opportunity for people to connect and network with others from different industries, from developers to regulators to industry leaders.

NEM’s LATAM Technical speaker, Pablo Romero, joined a panel where the main topic of discussion was “Decentralised Application, what are they and what benefits do they bring?” The Panel also featured Fernando Diaz of NEO and Mariano Conti of MakerDAO and Cristobal Pareira as moderator.

After a brief introduction by the other speakers and their journey into the blockchain space, moderator Cristobal of Mi futuro then turned to NEM’s technical speaker and CEO of Eliptica, Pablo Romero, and asked him why he chose NEM and how he would go about explaining and introducing NEM to those who are new to the market.

Pablo replied by stating that NEM has an awesome community that is like a big family who support each other with lots of active interactions, resources and unity within the community to help developers train people in blockchain.

Pablo then further emphasized that “as the world is still struggling to digest and accept the introduction of blockchain technology and adoption, NEM helps supports my vision to help educate the masses and new comers of blockchain.

Representatives from MakerDAO and NEO underlined the importance of scalability and having a user friendly Dapp that everyone can use is essential to increasing public adoption of blockchain technology.

Pablo mentioned that NEM’s user friendly platform, such as creating assets of digital value and user-friendly voting on the blockchain, were ways for NEM developers to show everyone how easy it is to use the platform and adopt into their business through the use of API.

Are dapps really efficient to all business and everyday application?

The whole panel including Pablo all unanimously agreed that there was no point in implementing blockchain into a business if it’s not necessary. Pablo outlined that the main priority in the use of blockchain and creating a tokenised economy is to ensure that all parties involved, including investors, play an equal role and have shared involvement for a project to thrive, scale and be useable to the public.

Pablo showed his pride in his involvement with the NEM community and NEM’s versatility as a platform that equips organizations with tools and easily accessible information without the need of relying heavily on cryptocurrencies and high gas prices to make a business scale.

The introduction of “Decentralized Integrity” was unveiled.

“Given this situation, we created a solution: a layer on the NEM API, which is a service that allows you to run a smart contract of any size without having to decentralize the whole smart contract file but just its integrity. That is, we add an apostille and this generates a hash, that hash is published in the Blockchain and says that it belongs to a smart contract to be executed in the future. When it is executed, the hash is verified in the Blockchain, and if that verification fails because someone modified the smart contract in some way, then the contract is not executed. And Decentralized Integrity has the great benefit that it involves only one regular transaction in the Blockchain, so it will not overload the Blockchain with big files. Therefore, it is super efficient”, he said.

Pablo said that the whitepaper will soon be available for those interested in the details of the new concept, which covers all the technical and practical aspects about Decentralized Integrity. Once announcement of the paper is available, readers can access it through NEM.io and Eplitica social channels.
