On the 16th and 19th of November 2018, NEM participated in Cointree’s Talk, Trade and Tips event at Stone and Chalk in Melbourne and Sydney. It was a fun night of crypto discussions, giveaways and prizes with a great turn out of people keen to learn more about crypto, blockchain and crypto superfunds.

Melbourne

First event kicked off with a bang in Melbourne with Robert Joseph from My SMSF presenting on how you can use crypto to invest in your self-managed super fund. This followed with a panel discussion that included:

  • Robert Joseph- My SMSF
  • Matt Harry- Cloudbreak Assets
  • Jason Lee- NEM Foundation
  • Jessica Renden- Cointree (Moderator)

They answered questions from the audience and talked about what their biggest concerns were for the crypto and blockchain industry and their thoughts for the future.

Sydney

The attention and event was then turned to Sydney, which Australia Lead Thanh Le presented about the NEM global ecosystem. Thanh gave those in attendance a run down of NEM’s highlights and many milestones of 2018 and the promising road map of what 2019 brings.

Achievements that included NEM opening a blockchain Hub in Melbourne and Brisbane, playing a pivotal role with TravelbyBit in helping Agnes Waters become the world’s first crypto town, Ukraine’s adoption of decentralised voting using the NEM platform to Japan’s ever fascinating interest in NEM, where travellers and locals can unwind at Tokyo’s famous NEM bar.

Interest was high after Thanh’s presentation with many new nem-bers expressing their interest to not only join NEM but also contribute to the foundation on a voluntary basis.
