Grand Opening of New Zealand’s First NEM Blockchain Hub in Westport
On 26th July 2018 we officially launched the NEM Blockchain Hub in partnership with Epic Westport in New Zealand. NEM representatives from all over the globe including Japan, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand came to Westport for the grand opening of the Hub.
Tash Barnes Dellaca was our magnificent MC, as we heard from all our honoured guests, including Hon. Damian O’Connor, Minister of State Trade and Export, Caleb Yeoh, CEO of TravelByBit, Lon Wong, founder & CEO of ProximaX, Ben Dellaca, Founder & CEO of Cerebralfix / Epic Westport and Jason Lee, NEM.io Foundation’s Expansion Director for Australia and New Zealand.
There were also many other distinguished guests in attendance including Chairman Andrew Robb of the West Coast Regional Council, Mayor Garry Howard of Buller District, Mayor Bruce Smith of Westland District and representatives from leaders in the New Zealand Crypto and Blockchain Ecosystem, such Cryptopia, Blue Block and Bitprime.
The Nem Blockchain hub at Westport is hosted by the CerebralFix Group, a gaming studio that works with Disney, DreamWorks and the BBC and had recently developed the ‘MatchNEM’ game. The hub in New Zealand has a co-working space, regular education and engagement activities as well as an incubation platform for businesses leveraging the NEM blockchain.
The Westport hub will be championed by a newly appointed NEM representative, Julian Brown and championed by Dalaney Davis, NEM New Zealand’s leader in growing the NEM ecosystem.
