NEM Meets Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC)

On 27th November 2018, NEM were invited to an exclusive event that was jointly held by Canberra Blockchain Center and E29. This unique event had 3 special guest, Sandra Ro, Tomicah Tilleman and Jim Newsome of Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) who flew in from Washington DC, USA to give the 100 people in attendance an insight about blockchain implementation specifically around the areas of government acceptance and adoption in Australia.

The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) is the leading industry association for the blockchain technology ecosystem, which brings together innovative organisations and founding thought-leaders from over 40 countries. They work to advance the understanding of blockchain technology amongst global regulators and business leaders.

Conceived on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, the GBBC is a Swiss-based non-profit, which launched formally during the 2017 Annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The organisation is dedicated to furthering adoption of blockchain technology through engaging regulators, business leaders, and global change makers on how to harness this groundbreaking tool to create more secure, equitable, and functional societies.

NEM Australia Lead, Thanh Le, was given the opportunity to present in front of blockchain enthusiasts and industry experts in finance, IT and government regulations about NEM’s ambitions and milestones. Our achievements include, collaborating with professionals from different corporate sectors, signing of various government MOU’s and forming partnerships with fin-tech professionals and incubators from around the world to help advocate blockchain technology.

Thanh shared NEM’s visions and plans by showing the success of the NEM Middle East Team with UAE’s Ministry of Community and Development, Ukraine’s implementation of a decentralised electronic platform for self-governance and also NEM’s continuous community work and support to universities such as RMIT and University of Antioquia in Colombia.
