Blockchain on the Rise in Hong Kong
Last week , Hong Kong held Rise Festival, one of the most important technology festivals of the year in Asia. NEM attended the event with 2 of its members — Stephen Chia, NEM Council Member and head of South East Asia, and Ricardo Medrano, Hong Kong leader.
There were many leading international and Asian brands attending and exhibiting at the festival, including IBM, Microsoft, Mercedes-Benz, HSBC, Cathay Pacific, Tencent, Line, ConsenSys, Grab and more. As expected, Blockchain was one of the industries that had the biggest presence, both in terms of talks and exhibitors.
Empleos, a project that is using NEM, had a stand at the festival. They are a new technology platform that brings Blockchain, Machine Learning and a Rewards system into the online recruiting market.
Apart from that, during the festival our NEM representatives met with various different companies from Hong Kong and the Asian region who were also attending the festival, and were interested in carrying out projects using blockchain technology. Several showed their interest in NEM, and we are progressing our discussions with them.
There were also other technologies such as Robotics, AI and IOT that were discussed at length and featured at the festival. In particular, a major theme was concerning how in the next few years, Blockchain, AI and IOT will become more interconnected, which will bring about huge advances in many industries and processes.
It is clear that great innovation is on the rise in Asia, and NEM is excited to be here and to be a part of it.
